Terms of service

WhichVid lets a creator make their Instagram Reels searchable by what was said in them. Viewers search a creator's page and are sent to the post on Instagram. Developers can search through an API with a key the creator issues. We transcribe and index; we do not host, play or distribute video.

• You must have an Instagram professional account and be allowed to use it under Instagram's terms.
• You confirm you have the rights to the content you connect, including anything spoken in it, and that making its transcript searchable does not infringe anyone else's rights.
• You give us permission to fetch your Reels, transcribe them, store the transcripts and indexes, and show matching passages to viewers and API callers, for as long as your account is connected.
• You are responsible for keys you create. Anyone with a key can search your videos. Revoke a key the moment you think it has leaked.
• You can disconnect at any time, from your dashboard or from Instagram. Disconnecting deletes your data as described in the privacy policy.

• WhichVid is a paid subscription for creators, billed monthly. The current price is shown on your dashboard before you subscribe and on the checkout page.
• New subscriptions may start with a free trial. We take a card at sign-up and charge nothing until the trial ends. Cancel before then and nothing is charged.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe's terms apply to the payment itself.
• Your subscription renews each month until you cancel. Cancel any time from your dashboard; your page stays on until the end of the period you have paid for, and no further charges are made.
• Fees are not refunded for partial periods, except where the law requires it or we have failed to provide the service.
• If a payment fails, we retry it. If it keeps failing, your page is paused until a payment succeeds; nothing is deleted.
• We may change the price with at least thirty days' notice by email or on your dashboard. The new price applies from your next renewal after the notice period.
• Prices exclude any taxes that apply where you are; where we must collect tax, it is added at checkout.

You may search a creator's page for personal, non-commercial use. Do not scrape, overload, or try to extract a creator's transcripts in bulk. Results link to Instagram, where Instagram's terms apply.

• A key only searches the creator who issued it, and only with that creator's permission, which they can withdraw by revoking the key.
• Keep keys secret and server-side. Do not embed them in apps or web pages that others can inspect.
• Respect rate limits. Do not use the API to re-host, replay, or redistribute videos, or to build a copy of a creator's transcripts.
• The API may change. We will try to keep the documented contract stable and to announce breaking changes on the creator dashboard, but we make no promise of continuity.

Do not use WhichVid to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, to harass or surveil anyone, to interfere with the service or other users, or to get around Instagram's terms. We may suspend or remove any account, key or content that we believe breaks these terms, with or without notice.

Your content stays yours. Transcripts, summaries and indexes we generate from it exist only to provide the service and are deleted with your account. The WhichVid software, design and name are ours.

WHICHVID IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TRANSCRIPTS ARE MACHINE-GENERATED AND MAY BE WRONG. SEARCH MAY MISS OR MISRANK VIDEOS. THE SERVICE MAY BE INTERRUPTED, CHANGED OR WITHDRAWN AT ANY TIME. WE DO NOT CONTROL INSTAGRAM AND ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ITS AVAILABILITY, ITS TERMS OR CHANGES TO ITS PLATFORM.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WHICHVID AND ANYONE WORKING ON WHICHVID WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, FOLLOWERS, REACH OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO WHICHVID, HOWEVER CAUSED. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS TOGETHER WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR FIFTY US DOLLARS. SOME PLACES DO NOT ALLOW SOME OF THESE LIMITS; THERE, THEY APPLY AS FAR AS THE LAW ALLOWS.

If someone brings a claim against us because of your content, your use of the service, or your breach of these terms, you will cover our costs and any damages, including reasonable legal fees.

You can stop using WhichVid and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or end the service, or your access to it, at any time. The sections on warranty, liability and indemnity survive.

These terms are governed by the laws of the place where WhichVid is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before going to court, you agree to contact us and give us thirty days to resolve the problem. Any dispute will be brought in the courts of the place where WhichVid is based, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Where the law allows, claims may be brought only individually, not as a class or representative action.

When these terms change, the date at the top changes. Material changes will be noted on the creator dashboard. Continuing to use WhichVid after a change means you accept it.
